To make sure that all the obstacles and limitations on their way are moved aside so that they can have a better life, the Australian Government introduced NDIS or The National Disability Insurance Scheme. In this scheme, the government provide all possible support, such as financial and emotional to those who need these. Some FAQs about NDIS
Once you apply for the support under NDIS, your application will be reviewed and assessed. It will go through the following steps:
- Review of documents to check the eligibility
- Called in for a meeting with the NDIS planning committee
- Preparation of the NDIS plan based on the outcome of the meeting
The meeting with the NDIS team is crucial. This meeting will determine whether or not you’re eligible. A support coordinator will be assigned on our behalf to help you plan the meeting efficiently. The meeting with the committee will focus on:
- Goals and objectives
- Current support service, if any
- Future support service
Children within the age group of 0-18 with disability are eligible for NDIS. If the child is within the age group of 0-6, an Early Childhood Early Intervention will be implemented by the NDIS. To access this, you must meet the following criteria.
- Development Delays
- Diagnosed with disability
- Must be in an area where NDIS is available
- An Australian citizen, or holds a permanent visa, or a protected SCV
The NDIS aims to:

- Encourage participation in social activities
- Assist in becoming an independent adults
The NDIS will you if you’re caring for and looking after an adult with a disability. However, the person you’re looking after must:
- Live in an NDIS transition area
- Be an Australian citizen or hold a permanent visa or is protected under SCV, and is aged under 65 years and have a permanent disability
- Disability is affecting daily social and economic participation
